Born November 26, 1926, in Groton, he was the son of Bower and Ervilla Casar Cornell.
Having been a lifelong resident, he had established the family dairy farm on Route 90, Town of Summerhill, in the 1940's. He was a NYS Distributer and Dealer for the Patz Barn Cleaners for numerous years and he had enjoyed working and fixing tractors as well he had a bulldozer that he utilized as a side business. He was known for his hay business that was passed along to his son and throughout the years he enjoyed reading, square dancing and in recent years overseeing the farm. He was predeceased by his late wife, Charlotte, and the true love of his life Alice Phillips.
He is survived by his sons, Clinton (Linda) B. Cornell Jr., of Locke, Lloyd (Mary) Cornell of Springport, NY, 4 grandchildren and his brother, Oren (Loreen) Cornell of Groton, a niece and nephew and his extended family of the late Alice Phillips.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton, with the Pastor Malcolm LeGreci officiating.
The family will receive friends 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Groton Rural Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Groton American Legion on Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to the Four Town Ambulance Fund or to a SPCA of one's choice.
