Mrs. Barbara Queen Carter, age 75, of 105 Razor Dr., Greenville, formerly of Jeffries Farm Rd., Jonesville, widow of Rev. Dr. Kenneth Carter, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Carter was born on September 23, 1942 in Union, a daughter of the late Eugene Queen and Jeanette Webb Queen. She was formerly employed in textiles and later accompanied her husband in his ministry and the ministry of the Carter Family Gospel singers. Mrs. Carter was a member of Pacolet First Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Penny Carter Knight and husband Charles of Greenville, Sheila Carter Walters of Union, and Donna Carter Simmons of Jonesville; one son, Kelly Carter and wife Carole of Jonesville; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one sister, Gwendolyn Q. Hendrix and one brother, Donald Queen.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Pacolet First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tommy Sparks and Rev. Junior Gravely. Burial will follow in Jonesville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday evening at Pacolet First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Barbara Q. Carter Fund, P.O. Box 293, Union, SC 29379.
The family is at the home of her son, Kelly and Carole Carter, 954 Jeffries Farm Rd., Jonesville, SC 29353.
