Admiral Sir Richard Poore 4th Baronet (of Rushall) K.C.B. C.V.O. an officer in the Royal Navy who served in the Naval Brigade as part of the Perak Expedition to Malaya in 1875. He was also part of the Bombardment of Alexandria in 1882 and the unsuccesful Nile Expedition to Khartoum to relieve General Gordon in 1884. He became Captain, H.M.S. Hawke in 1897 and was involved in operation that culminated in the pacification of Crete later that year. In April 1898, he was made Captain of the Battleship H.M.S. Illustrious serving in the Mediterrean.

On 9th March 1900, he was appointed Flag Captain to H.M.S. Vivid, flag ship and yacht to the port admiral of Devonport, for command of the RN Barracks. He was appointed Naval Aide de Camp to King Edward VII in June 1901. In 1904, he was appointed Rear Admiral for the Mediterrean and Channel Fleet followed by Commander-in-Chief, the Australia Station in 1908. In 1911, he was made Commander-in-Chief, The Nore, a post held into WWI. He retired in 1917.

He was appointed a deputy lieutenant of Wiltshire on 19th July 1920.

He lived at East End Manor, Durrington, Wiltshire.
