PENSION RECORDS:
*He served in Company B of the 142nd Infantry for Pennsylvania.
*Surgeons certificate of disability shows the soldier was discharged for Phthisis pulmonalis (another name for pulmonary tuberculosis), December 17, 1862. Heredity tendency existing before enlistment.
*Captain Andrews, Company B, 142nd Pa. Volunteers, certifies the soldier contracted jaundice and rheumatism in the line of duty on, or about, October 5, 1862.
*The soldier was pensioned $8 a month, in September 1864, for hypertrophy of the heart and dropsy. Full disability.
*Affidavit of attending physician shows the soldier died December 12, 1864, dropsy and jaundice to a complication, creating general debility, until death.

June 12, 1863, he became disabled and filed for his pension.
March 10, 1865, his widow filed for his service pension.
March 26, 1875, his widow filed for her grandson, a minor, John D. McCaleb.
Guardianship papers were file for his two minor children, Mabel Guist and George B. McClellan Guist by guardian John B. McCaleb.

A military headstone was place on his grave.
