Born William McGill Kenville, he played basketball collegiately at St. Bonaventure University and was selected by the Syracuse Nationals in the third round of the 1953 NBA Draft. He played three years for the Nationals before being sold to the Fort Wayne (later Detroit) Pistons in 1956. While with the Nationals, he was a key part of their 1955 NBA Championship-winning team. He played for the Pistons for three years before finishing his career in 1960. His career statistics included 2,434 points (7.1 ppg), 1,206 rebounds (3.5 rpg), and 715 assists (2.1 apg).
