Joseph F. LaJeunesse

Manitowoc - Joseph F. LaJeunesse, age 77, a Manitowoc resident, died early Wednesday morning, June 20, 2018 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center, Green Bay.

He was born on July 31, 1940 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Shea) LaJeunesse. Joseph received his Bachelor of Education and his Masters of Administration from Northern Michigan University. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. On December 18, 1965 he married the former Sara Maki in Gwinn, Michigan. Joseph was employed with the Manitowoc Public School System for 33 years. He was a member of the National Education Association, Wisconsin Education Association, Manitowoc Education Association, American Legion and Lakeshore United Methodist Church. Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, watching sporting events, watching grandchildren's events and also spending multiple hours at the fitness center. He also enjoyed playing dominos and poker with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Sara, Manitowoc; two daughters and a son-in-law: Andrea Longmeyer, Waukesha, Jenni (Tim) Olson, Appleton; four grandchildren: Derek Longmeyer, Lindsay Longmeyer, Abby Olson, Zach Olson; two sisters: Milly LaJeunesse, Milwaukee, Mary Lou Rossato, Iron Mountain, MI.; a half brother: Jim LaJeunesse, Felch, MI.; a half sister: Marie LaJeunesse, Felch, MI.; and a brother-in-law: Dick Maki, Gwinn, MI. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by his step mother: Marie LaJeunesse and a brother-in-law: Mario Rossato.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be Pastor Carly Kuntz. Burial of Joseph's cremated remains will occur at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 until 6:45 p.m.

Joe was beloved by everyone he knew. His positive energy, sense of humor and love of life was apparent in all that he did. He showed kindness and genuine interest in everyone he met and this is why he had a wide circle of friends and loved ones. Though he will be greatly missed by those he left, the mark he left on our lives will be cherished forever.
