At an early age she joined St. Paul AME Church in Apopka, Florida where she has attended faithfully for 65 years. She was an Ordained Deaconess. Earma loved to attend Sunday School and Bible Study.
On Saturday morning, February 24, 2018 Earma Lee Carey Peterson passed away. Her wisdom and knowledge will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren. Her loving ways will also be missed among family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Addison Carey, Sr., mother, Laura Dowdell Douglas, son, Gary Peterson, granddaughter, Ondra Loretta Sanford, daughter, Willie Ruth Sanford, sister, Willie Mae Carey and brother, Herbert Carey.
Earma leaves to cherish precious memories to: her husband, Roosevelt Peterson, Sr.; devoted daughters, Lue Virginia Baldwin Jenkins and Sandy Peterson Smith of Apopka, Florida; sons, Willie Dale Reese of Apopka, Florida, Leon C. Carey of New York, Roosevelt Peterson, Jr., (Rena) of Cleveland, Ohio; Floyd M. Peterson of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania (Angela); Alvin M. Peterson of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Tony L. Peterson (Kim), Alvinness W. Peterson of Apopka, Florida; A special granddaughter, Sandra R. Peterson, she raised as a daughter; sister, Johnnie Mae Wilson of Orlando, Florida; brothers, Dr. Addison Carey Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dowdell E. Carey, Sr. (Rosa) of Hawthorne, Florida; sisters-in-law, Roberta Hughley and Laurice Peterson, of Apopka, Florida, Laurice Peterson of Tampa, Florida and Eloise Carey of Crescent City, Florida; brother-in-law, Elijah Peterson of Apopka, Florida; special helper to Granny, Derrick Smith, Jr., Queen Kimball and Keisha Reese; godson, Bobby Scott (Sheron); special friends, Mrs. Jennell Simmons, Mrs. Mary Ann Robinson; two great aunts, Katrine Bentley and Bertha Lee Nobles of Orlando, Florida; one hundred fifty-three, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great, grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Brenda Peterson of Apopka, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
