Margaret Waugh Barger, 90, formerly of the Hobbs Acres community of Edenton, NC, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, in Salisbury.

Mrs. Barger was born in Iredell County on September 10, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary Garrison Waugh.

A homemaker, in earlier years she had been a companion for the elderly and shut in, and had helped her neighbors with child care. A longtime member of Edenton United Methodist Church, she served as the sanctuary custodian for 21 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Edwards Barger who passed in 1981; her daughter, Becky Adams; her son, Jimmy Barger; by sisters, Kathryn Pitts and Pamela Waugh; and by brothers, John “Buddy” Waugh and William “Bill” Waugh.

Surviving are her daughter, Thresia “Terri” Barger Morgan and husband, Jimmie, of Salisbury; her daughter-in-law, Jean Parrish Barger of Williamsburg, VA; her son-in-law, Franklin Adams of Manteo; her brother, Charles Thomas “Tom” Waugh and wife, Joyce, of Roanoke, VA; six grandchildren, Tonya, Jay, Chris, Dana, Jacob, and Sarah; five great-grandchildren; and special cousins, Vangie Miller, Pat Morrison, Jeanette Morris, GeraldAnn Graham, Bud Hamm, and Vivian Beaver.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27th, at 3:00 p.m. in Edenton United Methodist Church and will be conducted by The Rev. Chris Aydlett. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation at the church the hour prior to the service.
