George married Elizabeth Bell about 1811 in Belmont County, Ohio. He traveled in 1812 to Richland County, Ohio, to purchase on behalf of his father-in-law Robert Bell a quarter-section of land (160 acres) in Jefferson Township from James McCluer. (Robert Bell would later establish Bellville on this land.) George Yearian afterwards cut logs for a cabin at Mansfield, Richland County, but returned to Belmont County in 1813 after Indians had killed some white settlers in incidents connected with the ongoing War of 1812.
George Yearian enlisted as a private in Captain Daniel Conner's Company, Ohio Militia. The company served from January 13 to March 17, 1814. His co-brother-in-law Thomas "Pyatte" was also a private in the company. For this military service, George Yearian would later receive bounty land in Illinois and Missouri.
After the War of 1812, George Yearian and his family returned to Richland County, moving to southern Illinois in 1837. His wife Elizabeth, having had 10 children, died in Perry County, Illinois in 1847.
George married his 2nd wife, Sarah Elizabeth Irvin Davis, on July 17, 1851, in Hamilton County, Illinois. Sarah was the widow of Robert A. Davis. They later moved to Saline County, Illinois, where George died in 1867 after having 3 more children by Sarah.
