Huvenia “Tootsie” Benoit, 78, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017.
She was a devoted wife and homemaker to her husband Clifford Benoit for 63 years. Tootsie was a lifelong member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church where she served as a co-captain of the 8:30 Mass ushers. She found great joy in babysitting the children of Heritage Baptist Church.
Tootsie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; son, Curtis Benoit; grandson, Zachary Benoit.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joseph Clifford Benoit; sons, Randy and wife Sue of Magnolia, Texas, and Mike Benoit of Lake Charles, La.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, with a rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume on Thursday at 9 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at St. Margaret Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. The family word like to thank Dr. Bergeron and the nurses and staff of Memorial Hospital, Home Health of Memorial and Heart of Hospice.
