William Hart Baldwin, a native and lifelong resident of Genesee county and a man highly esteemed, died suddenly at 9:10 a.m. today from apoplexy at his home, No. 15 Summit street. Mr. Baldwin's health had not been good for some time, as he had suffered several slight attacks of apoplexy, but he had been able to be about as usual and was on the street yesterday. Early last night be complained of feeling ill and was unable to sleep. About 4 o'clock this morning he arose and sat in a chair in the sitting room. While there, about 7 o'clock, he was stricken with apoplexy and immediately became unconscious, to which condition he remained until death came. Mr. Baldwin was born in Oakfield on January 28, 1828, being a son of Rice Baldwin, who settled at Oakfield in 1813. He was educated In the common schools and at Gary Seminary, Oakfield. He was a thoroughly practical farmer and one of the most successful tillers of the soil in Genesee county. In 1884 he retired from active life and took up his residence in Batavia.
In 1858 Mr. Baldwin was married to Mrs. Jane M. Storms, who survives him, and who is an invalid. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Charles B. Avery of Oakfield and Mrs. Frederick W. Clement of Bethany; two stepchildren, John C. Storms and Mrs. J M. McKenzie of Batavia; a brother, Milton Baldwin of Waupaca, Wis., and two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Edgerton of Batavia and Mrs. Charity Calkins of Oakfleld.
