NANCY JANE WASSON, 1835 - 1891

Nancy J. Wasson, daughter of James and Amanda Phillips Wasson, was born on February 23, 1835 in Green County, Illinois and died on Wednesday, January 28, 1891 at her home in Fall Creek Township, Adams County, Illinois. The cause of her death was listed by her physician Julias F. Crocker of Payson in Adams County, Illinois, as due to "Consumption". Her Original Death Certificate is missing from the Adams County Records Section at the Adams County Seat in Quincy but a Death Record is on file in that office that states she had died of Consumption on January 28,1891 at her home in Fall Creek, Adams County, Illinos. This record also states her funeral was provided by the Miller Funeral Home of Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri and that services for her were held at the Mud Hook School House, it further states that she was to be buried in the Journey Graveyard, which is located in the Seehorn or Kinderhook Township area of Pike County, Illinois

According to entries on various census records for Adams County, Illinois, both of her parents were born in Virginia. On the 1860 Census for Kinderhook Township, Pike County, Illinois, Nancy Wasson Robertson is listed as born in Illinois, while her husband John H. "Jackson" Robertson is enumerated as being born in Kentucky. On the 1900 Census for Fall Creek Township, Adams County, Illinois, her son James Thomas Robertson lists his mother, as being born in Missouri and his father as born in Illinois, but on the 1880 and the 1910 Census, both he and his brother, John H. Robertson Jr. say their father was born in Kentucky and that their mother was born in Illinois. John H. Jr. and James T. Robertson's father has since been proven to have been born in Clay County, Kentucky in 1832. He was a Disabled Civil War Veteran and died near the village of Seehorn in Pike County, Illinois on March 27, 1869. Nancy's parents migrated to Greene County, Illinois in the early 1800's and eventually settled in Adams County, Illinois in the late 1820's.
