Daniel Gunkel was born September 12, 1896 at Gun City, Mo. (He wrote Drynob, MO in his WWI Draft Registration), and died December 2, 1966 in Yakima at the age of 97.

On March 5, 1902 he was married to Rosa S. Saftley and in 1916 they moved to Maryhill where they lived until 1963 when ill health made them leave, to live with their daughter in Yakima.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa, a daughter, Edith E. McKissick, Yakima; two sons, Dr. Ralph D. Gunkel, Potomac, Md.; George of Maryhill; he also leaves five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held December 5 at the Knosher Funeral Home with Rev. L.A. Jackson officiating. Pallbearers were Lloyd Early, James Jaekel, Irwin Robinson, Robert Short, Lambert Young and Douglas Layman. Interment was in the Maryhill Cemetery.
