Bass was the son of John Wesley Carr and Amanda (Oakes) Carr. He was 39 yrs old, married and a farmer. Cause of death was listed as tuberculosis of the kidneys. Death Certificate #413. Bass' mother died 1889-1898. Her burial is unknown.

Bascum married Cleo Myers 21 Aug 1918 White County, TN. Cleo b. 1895. Cleo remarried 1 Sept 1925 to John F. Tucker.

Bass was in the 10th US Infantry WWI, Co. B. Jan 21, 1924, Cleo filed for military widows pension.
