Italian Poet and Translator. His most famous work is probably the translation of Homer's "Odyssey," which had great success. Born into a noble family, he received his college education in Moderna, Italy. His poems include "Le stanze" (1779), "Poesie campestri" (1788), "La Francia" (1789), "Abaritte" (1790), and "Poetic Sermons" (1819), as well as several tragedies, including "Arminio" (1804). In 1805 he began his translation of the Odyssey, which was published in 1822. He died at the age of 75.
