Aaron Shepard
03/03/1929 - 03/09/2015

Aaron was born to Axie (Hignite) and Aaron Shepard, Sr. on March 3, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was the youngest of 5 children. At age 12, Aaron moved to California to join his mother in Bakersfield. Aaron graduated from East Bakersfield High School, where he met his future bride, Marjorie Jordan. They later married in September 1948. Aaron and Marjorie were married for 66 years and had two beautiful children, Pamela and Gary.
Aaron worked for Sherry's Liquors for 36 years and in 1977, he and Marjorie became the proud owners of Sheppy's Liquors in Oildale. Aaron was not only a beloved business owner in the community, he was a friend to many. Aaron and Marjorie retired from Sheppy's Liquors in 1991 and later moved to their 'mountain home' in Tehachapi in 1995. Aaron was a member of Caledonia Lodge #486 and a Scottish Rite Mason for over 50 years. He became a 33rd degree Mason, an honorary degree that very few attain, in November 2003 in Washington, D.C. He was also a member of the Al Malaikah Shriners.
Aaron taught his loved ones many life lessons. These include, hospitality - give your best to your guests; generosity - share what you have, especially with those who don't expect it and cannot repay; enjoy life and make a memory; follow your dreams - you'll never know if you don't try.
Aaron will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Pamela Walker, and son, Gary Shepard (Denise); grandchildren, Jill Helmle (Chad), Kyle Shepard (Ashley), and Hayley Shepard (Matt); and great-grandsons, Beck and Jude Helmle, and Carson Shepard. The family would like to thank Optimal Hospice for their loving care.
The viewing will be Wednesday March 11th 5-8pm at Basham Funeral Home, 620 Oregon Street and graveside services will be Thursday March 12th 2pm at Greenlawn Cemetary, 3700 River Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3160 Geneva St., Los Angeles, CA 90020.
