Nellie Louisa Sears was the fourth of ten children born to Thomas Marion Sears and Ida Jane Speak. In October of 1914 she married Alexander Taylor and they lived most of their lives in the Chicago area. Unable to have kids of their own, they adopted a son William (born in MO abt. 1922) and also took in her sister Lena Johnson and her daughter Betty after their husband/father abandoned the family.
