Bertha Griffith was born on 16 May 1918 in Yancey County, North Carolina, the daughter of Henry Marcus Griffith (1883-1932) and Nellie Halloway Griffith (1894-unknown). Sadly, she succumbed to a heart condition on 12 July 1926 in Erwin, Tennessee at the age of 8. She was interred at Griffith Cemetery.
