Jean Elizabeth Ambrose, 90, of Waynesboro, Pa., formerly of Hagerstown, passed away, Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at The Leland of Laurel Run, Waynesboro.

Born December 31, 1927 in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late, Edward Lee and Sallie Light (Ardinger) Adams.

In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Lawrence Preston Ambrose and three brothers, Lee, Charles and Jack Adams.

Mrs. Ambrose was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown High School and a 1961 graduate of Hagerstown Junior College.

She was an executive secretary and personnel manager for various business in Hagerstown including The Potomac Edison Company, Fairchild Corporation and Ward Leonard Corporation.

Mrs. Ambrose attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown and was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, Auxiliary; Ladies of the Elks, both of Hagerstown.

She volunteered at the Washington County Hospital and the Washington County Tourism office as a secretary and tour guide. She was an avid reader and played golf as a member of the 9 hole group at Fountain Head Country Club.

She is survived by one niece; one nephew and their families.

A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at noon at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
