She was born December 27, 1930, in Rosebud, Texas to Verdie Louella Wiggington and Mallie Wilkerson Jones.
Jean graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Port Arthur, Texas, in 1949 and continued her education at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. She graduated with her master’s degree from McNeese State University, Louisiana, and taught 6th grade for many years at Port Neches – Groves Independent School District.
Survivors include her two daughters, Gayle Butaud, Ed.D., and Susan Pinder and her husband, Chris; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Thomas Roy Butaud.
