Eugene "Cowboy" Jones, age 80, of Point Blank, Texas and a former Newton, Texas resident died Monday, July 5, 2004 in Granbury, Texas.

He was a native of Rosebud, Texas and resident of Point Blank, Texas the past 3 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during WW II.

Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Smith Funeral Home in Newton with burial at Ford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 P.M. Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at Smith Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife Minnie Jones of Point Blank, Texas, 2 Sons, Eugene Jones Jr. and Barry Jones both of Gorves, Texas; 2 step-sons, Steve Bramlett, Granbury, Texas and Jerry Bramlett of Ft. Worth, Texas; 4 daughters, Janel Collins, Clearfield, Utah, Trudy Nichols, Houston, Texas, Dianne Stinson, Houston, Texas and Rhonda Cochran of Newton, Texas; 1 step-daughter, Phyllis Smith, Brason, Mo.; 2 brothers, Lloyd Jones, Groves, Texas and Wilburn Jones, Nederland, Texas, 3 sisters, Marie Stroope, Amarillo, Texas, Jean Butaud, Nederland, Texas and Mildred Johnson, Groves, Texas; 20 grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years Della Mae Jones and one grandson, Tommy Nichols.
