David was born June 3rd 1934 in Valdosta Georgia to Samuel and Vernelle (Patten) Register. He graduated from Mercer University in 1955 where he met his bride and lifelong love, Barbara Jean Fisher. David and Barbara married on June 9th 1956. Barbara’s momma said, “Now Barbara, don’t get married until you graduate from college.” So Barbara graduated on Monday and married David on Saturday. Theirs was a true love story. Together they had two sons, David Marcus Register Jr. (Mark) and Scott Walker Register, and two grandsons, Walker Vazquez Register and Spencer William Register. David served in the U.S. Army as 1st Lieutenant. After his service, he earned his living as a pharmaceutical salesman and aways joked, that together with his librarian wife, the pair were "a bookie and a pusher". David had a quick wit and enjoyed entertaining people with his storytelling. In his later years, David built a cottage in the mountains of Blue Ridge Georgia and enjoyed the simplicity and ease of country living. He taught his grandchildren to fish and play in the creek. He loved his faith and his family, especially his Barbara.

David is survived by his wife Barbara Jean Fisher Register, his son Scott Walker Register, his daughter-in-law Nancy Vazquez Register, his grandsons Walker Vazquez Register and Spencer William Register, and sister-in-law Shirley Register. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Vernelle, his son David Marcus Register Jr. (Mark), his brother Samuel D. Register Jr.; and a great nephew, Robert David Register.
