Samuel David Register, 80, died at his home here at 1801 North Ashley St. this morning after a long illness. Mr. Register was born in Statenville, but had lived in Valdosta for about 50 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was vice president and director of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association and had served on the Valdosta Board of Education. For many years he operated a furniture store here. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Samuel, Jr. Of Valdosta and David Register of Atlanta; one half sister, one half-sister, Mrs. W. L. Hillhouse of Valdosta. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at McGowan's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Valdosta Daily paper 2-12-1964 page 23
