Sally Alma Mauerman Reisem, our Steel Magnolia, age 64 of Evansville passed away Saturday September 1st, 2018 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 25, 1954 in Stoughton, WI to Harold and Virginia (Fenn) Mauerman. She grew up on a farm in Magnolia, where she developed a respect for the land and its rich heritage. Sally graduated from Evansville High School in 1972. In High school she exceled in music, forensics and drama. One of her greatest joys was playing Yenta in the school’s production of Fiddler on the Roof. She graduated from Madison Business College in 1975. During her years in college she worked as an office float at Jackson Medical center. In 1977, Sally moved back to Evansville and started her career at Union Bank & Trust.

On June 8th, 1991 Sally married Anthony Reisem of St. Paul MN, at the Magnolia Advent Christian Church. After a disabling car accident in 1995, she became a stay at home Super Mom, volunteering for every organization her children were part of. Even though she loved being involved in all of the organizations, her heart belonged to 4-H. Sally was a project and general leader for the Magnolia 4-H club for many years as well as a key leader at the county level. When her children were in high school, Sally was employed as an Americor Vista worker with the Rock County 4-H program. During that time, she worked on many 4-H after school activities, which eventually transitioning into work with the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Sally was recently presented with the “I Bleed Green” lifetime achievement award by the Rock County 4-H Leader’s Council.

She was a life time member of the Magnolia Advent Christian Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School teacher, Christmas program director and choir member. She was also a member of the Magnolia Helpers Union, where she served as an officer and wrote their monthly devotions. Sally loved to read, hand stitch, sew, bake, spend time with family & friends and trace genealogy. She presented on several occasions to local historical societies on various topics, including The Magnolia Church & Cemeteries, Cainville School and The Salem Witch Trials.

Sally is leaving behind her husband, Anthony; her children, grandchildren, siblings, Mother & Father in law and a brother in law. Also, her aunts, Numerous nieces & nephews and cousins across the Midwest, many dear friends and her “extend family” at Magnolia Advent Christian Church, Rock County 4-H program and the tractor gang.

Sally is proceeded in death by her parents, uncles Art Shoemaker, Ronald Lange and George Fenn of Evansville, Roy Mauerman and Fred Kaderli of Brodhead & Melvin Mauerman and Roy Kaderli of Monroe. Her aunts Wilma Kaderli of Brodhead & Florance Kaderli of Monroe. Her sister in law Lucia Mauerman of Evansville, niece Janice Johnson & great niece Cadence Johnson of Janesville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday September 15, 2018 at Magnolia Advent Christian Church 14726 W. County Road A with reverend Tom Moe officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia East cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:30pm to 8:00pm on Friday at ward-Hurtley Funeral Home 130 South 5th Street Evansville.
