Terre Haute, Indiana - Irene Rose Cerkas Laskie, died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in Terre Haute, Indiana at the age of 88.

Irene was born on February 9, 1930 in Manitowoc, to the late John and Rose (Sobleski) Cerkas. She lived in Chicago, Maine, and Manitowoc until she moved to Indiana. She loved to sing! She was happiest eating chocolate and drinking soda. She was the reason for so many smiles!

Irene is survived by her three children: John (Lynn) Laskie, James Carson, and Lorraine (Morris) Aplin; her five grandchildren: Jason Carson, Matthew (Christi) Aplin, Lisa (Jes) Krause, Megan (Jay) Dieringer and Madelyn Laskie; and nine great-grandchildren: Lyric Krause, Jordan Krause, Lily Krause, Jay Krause, Londyn Krause, Ava Dieringer, Edward Dieringer, Jasun Reed, Zachary Reed, and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents: John and Rose Cerkas; one great-grandchild: Jett Krause; six brothers and three sisters-in-law: Joseph (Bertha) Cerkas, Alors Cerkas, Leonard (Agnes) Cerkas, Edmund Cerkas, Louis (AnnaMae) Cerkas and Francis Cerkas; five sisters and four brothers-in-law: Emelia (Mathias) Hein, Elsie (Everett) Emond, Bernice (Stanley) Stanul, Violet (Ervin) Ploederl and Caroline Cerkas.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. Father John Cerkas will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and remember Irene and celebrate Irene's eternal life. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Senior Education Ministries at 4310 S. 11th St. Terre Haute, Indiana 47802. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, Westridge Healthcare for their care and support and Jessica, Brendan and Reagan Becker who adopted Irene as their grandmother and spent so many hours of time sharing their love.

It's never too late for happily ever after. Irene has found her happy place and is in the arms of Jesus and singing and dancing on Heaven's streets of gold.
