(1923 - 2017)

Glenn L. Bartelme, age 94, a Manitowoc resident, joined his beloved wife Gerry in heaven, on Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2017, exactly 3 months to the minute of her passing.

He was born on January 11, 1923 in Manitowoc, son of the late Michael & Lillian (Wegforth) Bartelme. Glenn was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1941. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy in the ship repair unit serving from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. On July 10, 1948 he married the former Geraldine (Gerry) Barbieur at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2017. Glenn was the owner and operator of Bartelme Plumbing Service and also worked for various other plumbing contractors. He was a volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Lake to Lake Apprenticeship Committee and was a 70 year plus member of Plumbers & Steamfitters United Association.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Glenn Jr. & Paula Bartelme, Platteville, John & Carol Bartelme, Manitowoc; three daughters and sons-in-law: Lynn Seidl-Babcock & Michael Babcock, Manitowoc, Lori & Timm Risse, Random Lake, Lisa & Tony Hurley, Random Lake; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one sister: Marilyn Oestrich, Fond du Lac; three sisters-in-law: Joanne Bartelme, Manitowoc, Avis Bartelme, Oconomowoc, Sister Mary Barbieur, Oshkosh; and three godchildren: Barbara Torp, Cato, Jim Leannah, Florida, Jeanne Graycerak, Denmark. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends: Kerri Popp, Manitowoc, and Sister Mary Jo Selinsky, Oshkosh. He was also preceded in death by 15 siblings, spouses and several in-laws.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Avenue) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017. The visitation will continue Tuesday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Avenue) Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
