She came to the colonies with her mother Elizabeth and several siblings in 1683. Her father Thomas Pott(s) and brothers John and George remained in Wales. Her brother George came to the colonies in 1690 however died on the voyage and brother John Pott(s) remained in Wales, his 5 orphaned children having come to the colonies in 1698 where they are mentioned frequently in the Quaker Philadelphia Mo Mtg Minutes in 1700. The 1st entry regarding these orphans was 5mo/Jul 8, 1699 and those appointed to see to their care were Edward Shippen, Anthony Morris, Samuel Carpenter and John Kinsey.

Jacob Shoemaker came to the colonies in 1683 as a single man and servant to Francis Daniel Pastorius on the ship "America", Joseph Wassey master, with the first wave of German Mennonites, i.e. George Wertmuller, Isaac Dilbeck, wife Mariette & sons Abraham & Jacob, Thomas Gasper, Conrad Bacher (alias Rutter), and an English maid Frances Simpson. They left Rotterdam on 4 May; left Gravesend on 6 June 1683 and arrived in the colonies on 6mo/Aug 20, 1683.
That Jacob Shoemaker married this Margaret Potts and not Margaret Gove is supported by strong circumstantial evidence in that Jacob Shoemaker's children signed Potts marriage certificates among relatives, were associated through Wills & Administrations, i.e. Jane (Potts) Austin [Bk E, pg 309], and various land deeds also involving the Potts family. In 1699, Margaret's orphaned niece and one of the 5 orphaned children of her brother John Potts of Wales, Mary Potts, was assigned to the care of Jacob's cousin, Isaac Shoemaker, as reported by Philad'a Mo Mtg.

On June 17, 1699, Jacob Shoemaker made a deed to John Moore for land in Bristol Twp (now defunct and incorporated in the City of Philad'a by 1854 Act of Consolidation), which is partially described as "Bounded Easterly by former land of said John Moore, Southerly by the City Liberties, Westerly by the said Jacob's Land sold to his Brother-in-Law Thomas Potts, and northerly by Land of Samuel Richardson, as the same is actually divided."
Jacob & Margaret Shoemaker, with children Thomas, Jacob & Susanna, were received at Abington Mtg by Certificate dated 10mo/Dec 28 1714 from Philadelphia Mtg. She was active in the affairs of Abington Friends Meeting and in 1719 was appointed, with her sister-in-law Jone Potts, to attend the Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting.
Margaret died after 1723 as she survived her husband Jacob who died 11mo/Jan 10, 1722/23 leaving his Will #272 dated 22 Nov 1722 and proved 13 Feb 1723 wherein she administered his estate. He styles himself as "Jacob Shoemaker of the City of Philadelphia, turner" [PA Will Bk D, pg 351]
