AUGUST, Betty Cohen, 69, of Chesterfield, died Sunday, September 23, 2018. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Chester and Rena Hecht Cohen. Betty spent most of her life in education. She began as a teacher in Richmond City Public Schools, then went to Henrico County and retired as a full-time School Counselor in Prince George County. Upon her retirement, she returned in a part-time capacity as a School Counselor within the Prince George School District, which she continued until her passing. Betty was the widow of Alan L. August; and is survived by her son, Adam August and his wife, Brooke; daughter, Meredith Cheifetz and her husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Lauren, Ben, Jessica, Ava, Maya and Alex; her brother, Joel Cohen and his wife, Susan; nephew, Aaron Cohen; a dear friend, Steven Bhatt; and an adopted grandson, Juan Bhatt. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Brith Achim Cemetery. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
