Mrs. Spurgeon, who lived one mile southwest of the Agency, was killed in a runaway last Friday. She and her mother-in-law had driven into town after medicine for her sick husband. On the way home, their team took fright, ran and threw both women out, breaking the mother’s arm and killing Mrs. Spurgeon instantly by breaking her neck. The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the Victor school house, conducted by the Methodist minister.
