Esther T Huerlin was the daughter of Charles August Huerlin and Christine Gibson. Esther had only one brother from this marriage, Fred Huerlin. Her mother later remarried and they had another two children.

Esther married Nelson J Thorpe.

Obit was located in "Duluth News Tribune" on 10/10/1967 and reads as follows:
"Mrs. Esther T. Thorpe, 86, Cloquet, died Monday at a Moose Lake hospital. She is survived by one son, Raynold N., Cloquet; three daughters, Miss Mary Jane Thorpe, Duluth; Mrs. George Hanzel, Spencertown, N.Y., and Mrs. Ralph Macdonald, MIlwaukee, Wis.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Huerlin, Greenbank, Wash., and Clarence Alstad, Cloquet. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by the Wefelmeyer Funeral Home."

At the Hillcrest Cemetery, on the east side of the road are Nels & Esther, Mary Jane & Jeanette Hazel, Raymond & Myrtle. On the west side of the road are: Andrew & Laura (Larson) Ness, their daughter Esther & daughter Ruth Ness, who married Clarence Alstad and he is buried there also. James Alstad & Christine (Gibson), Christine Gibson 1st married Charles Huerlin (their children were Fred Huerlin and this Esther Huerlin).
A couple of miles west of this Cemetery is another cemetery called Maple Grove Cemetery and at that cemetery is buried Leonard Thorpe & his wife Hazel, & Todd Thorpe.
