William Thomas Daniel III "Duck", 76, of 12 Broadleaf Court, died Jan. 9, 2003, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late William Thomas Jr. and Mary Sue Hall Daniel. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, South Pacific, was owner and operator of Welcome Fuel Oil, and was the former owner of Lee Road Pure Oil and Union 76. Mr. Daniel was a member of Lee Road Baptist Church and the Lollie Gibson Sunday School Class. He was a deacon, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a soloist.

Mr. Daniel sang Gospel music at assisted living and nursing homes, and for senior citizens' groups. He sang country music and played the guitar on WESC radio for many years. He inspired his family and church with his music.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Linda Roberta King Daniel; two sisters, Mary D. Sloan of Greenville and Evelyn D. Ferguson of Long Neck, Del.; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Daniel; and two sisters, Helen Manley and Willie Mae Moore.

Memorials may be made to Lee Road Baptist Church, 1503 E. Lee Road, Taylors, SC 29687; or, to American Lung Association, 84 Villa Road, Suite B-2, Greenville, SC 29615.

Visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.

Funeral services will be held at Lee Road Baptist Church, at 3 p.m., Sunday, with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The Lollie Gibson Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family is at the residence.
