Mary was born February 11, 1942 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Fletcher James and Pauline Essie Camp Burkett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Houston, sisters, Vivian Lovain and Betty Quarles and brothers, Jimmy, Ralph, Alan and Michael Burkett.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Deano and Sharon Staten of Jasper, GA; brothers, Jack and Connie Burkett of Chatsworth, GA; sisters, Pat and Hansel Pierce of Dalton, GA, and Jane Leonard of Rocky Face, GA; lifetime friends, Pat and Bobby Beavers of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Mary Sue Houston will be held Thursday morning, October 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with her friends and family delivering the eulogy. She will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
