Sister Cecilia Bodman, 77; professor emeritus of biology
Sister Cecilia Bodman was a biologist who was still active in teaching at age 77 when she died Tuesday in Edgewater Hospital. Sister Cecilia was professor emeritus of biology at Mundelein College, and in her retirement became the school's archivist. She was also a volunteer science teacher at St. Mary of the Lake parish school in Uptown and was a volunteer at the Field Museum of Natural History. A mass for Sister Cecilia, a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the McCormick Lounge at Mundelein College, 6363 N. Sheridan Rd. "She was a person of many talents and a happy, happy woman," according to Barbara Palombo, public relations director for the college. "She was the kind of person you came to with your plants if they weren't doing well. She particularly enjoyed being archivist here and encouraged people not to throw anything away."
