Thomas Ogden came to southeastern Arizona from San Diego, where his brother was a prominent citizen. In summer 1879 Thomas partnered with A.W. Stowe in developing the Empire Mine at Tombstone. He located many mining claims throughout the district, and owned much surface ground between Safford and Fulton Streets. Thomas died of pneumonia at Tombstone on December 19, 1888.
