Josephine Joan Titta Anderson of Beckley, formerly of Alpoca, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007, at the Beckley home of her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and John Shufflebarger.

Born Dec. 12, 1922, at Alpoca, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Maria Aiello Titta and the widow of PFC Paul Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Carl, Joseph and Sam Titta, Julia Lester, Jane Lucento, Edith Titta, Ellen Dean, and her twin sister, Mildred Emanuelo.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Shufflebarger and husband, John, of Beckley; a son, Maurice Anderson and wife, Barbara, of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Lisa Wright and husband, Gary, of Virginia Beach, Jeff Anderson and wife, Beckey, of Virginia Beach, John Shufflebarger II and wife, Debbie, of Crab Orchard, and Jamie Shufflebarger and wife, Nikki, of Beckley; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Alexa, and Aaron Wright; Candice Delpino and husband, Eddie, Matthew, Cody, and Andy Anderson, all of Virginia Beach; Alison and David Shufflebarger of Crab Orchard, and Hannah Shufflebarger of Beckley; three great-great-grandchildren, Brianna, Kayla, and Aidan Delpino of Virginia Beach.

She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Josephine was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was born and raised in Alpoca, where she lived most of her life. Her recollections of life in Alpoca were remarkable, and she enjoyed talking about how activities in the past were so different from today. Although her hometown was small, it did not prevent her from having the courage to travel to distant states. She truly enjoyed life and loved her family dearly, as well as being loved by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Porterfield, Pioneer Medical, and all of her health care staff for the excellent care she received.
