Family name is spelled Coffey however, Hugh's name has been spelled both ways.

Hugh Coffee Sr was son of John Coffey and Susannah Watson. Hugh married Agnes Montgomery and 4 known sons were born to them ; Hugh Jr., John, Henry and Alexander. Possibly 1 or 2 daughters.

Hugh Coffee is the uncle of John M Coffey who married Sarah Morrow and the great uncle of John MacDonald Coffey.

December 7, 2019 American Legion had a ceremony to dedicate the Capt. Hugh Coffee's grave marker at the cemetery and to dedicate the State Historical Marker, the Memorial Marker. There was a nice crowd of about 35 in attendance.
