Vera Leafgreen, 83, Rio, died Tuesday at Galesburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The former Vera Johnson was born May 7, 1907 in Ontario Township, Oneida, Illinois. She married AC. "Pete" Leafgreen Oct 1, 1924 in Galesburg. He died in 1973.

She was former member and president of the Ladies Aid of the church; a member and former president of Rio Women's Club; a former member of the Rio PTA and a member of Rio Senior Citizens. She enjoyed her church work, lawn and garden work, and crafts. She was actively walking and jogging until 10 years ago.

Survivors include daughters, Vivian "Skip" Allison, Alpha, Joyce Devlin, New Windsor, Kay Thompson, rural Wataga, Sherrie Taylor, Woodhull, and Joby Eiker, Lexington; 15 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild and a sister, Hazel Carlson, Memphis, Tennessee.
