Jack was a cool guy, a great friend and fun to be around. He moved from Tennessee to Imperial Beach, California in the early 70's. I met him around 1976 through a close mutual friend, Jerry. They were roommates in IB.

I would visit Jerry and Jack several times a month. They lived practically on the beach, it was so fun. It was tradition almost every weekend in the summer, especially during Sandcastles. BBQ, beer, beach....weed….

When another friend of ours was having financial problems in Las Vegas, Jack quickly, without question, sent him enough money to get him what he needed. He was always generous and happy to help someone. I remember after moving to Ohio, I would call and talk for a long time with Jack. He was a sweetheart.

Jack worked at the Rohr in Chula Vista, Ca., as a warehouseman for over 30 years. He was eligible to retire quite a few years ago. He had bought his house and some land in Kingsport, Tennessee (his house in the snow) and was planning to move back soon and be with his numerous brothers and sisters. He just didn't get around to it.

Jack was a party guy, liked his cigarettes and liquor. On Sunday afternoon, he was helping his roommate/friend move some furniture and had a heart attack while driving. His friend was in another truck and saw Jack's truck speed by downhill, but Jack was not sitting up in the seat. Sadly, Jack passed away before crashing into a parked car. No one else was injured. Services were held in Kingsport, Tennessee. Jack was 58.

Thank you so much Peggy Ferrell, for taking the picture of Jack's grave. Your kindness to take the time for Jack's page here to be complete. :)
