Mrs. Marion Hoffman Ward, 79, of Thomasville, died Wednesday at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Born June 7, 1926 in Akron, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late John Russell Hoffman and Rita Watson Hoffman. She was of the Lutheran faith. Mrs. Ward graduated from East High School in 1945 and retired from J. C. Penny Co. after 27 years of service. She always had a smile on her face.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by sons, Joseph and Jon, and is survived by her husband of 60 years, James W. Ward of Thomasville; and six children, Claudia Jo Williams and her husband Michael, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Diana Lynn Williamson and her husband Jack, of Akron, Ohio, James W. Ward, Jr. and his wife Yvonne, of Irving, Texas, Rebecca Susan Lawrentz and her husband Dana, of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Robin Janine Kriz and her husband Frank, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Jeffrey Lee Ward and his wife Becky, of Powells Point, N.C. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Gasper of Seminole, Fla., and Molly Sheldon of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service for Mrs. Ward will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron, Ohio.
