Joseph Edward Easton was born near Lexington, Kentucky on June 14, 1854 and died March 5, 1927, aged 72 years, 8 months, 21 days. With his parents he went to Ohio and on to Grand Island, Nebraska.
As a young man he moved to Dakota City and was in the livery business for 30 years.
On June 5, 1881 he married Fanny J. Ream and three children were born to bless the home; Mrs. J. W. Fetterman, Max R. Easton, who preceded his father in death in 1918 and Rach Easton, formerly of Saco, but now living in Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Easton passed away in Dakota City, Nebraska on June 10, 1905.
Mr. Easton came to Saco in 1916 to homestead. After that he made his home with son Archie and his family. Since their departure he has lived with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fetterman of this city. Much loved by all who knew him and left a place that will be hard to fill.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon and the body taken on the No. 4 to Dakota City for burial beside his wife.
