Howard “Lee” Strickland, 69, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was blessed with a large and loving family. Lee leaves behind his devoted wife Carolyn Jean Scheider Strickland; daughters, Holly (Eddie) Greene, Lora Lee (Bobby) Bellar; his son Clint (Daniele) Strickland. He was the proud Pop to his five grandchildren, John Robert Bellar, Mason and Madison Bellar (the twins), Wyatt Greene and Caralee Bellar. Further survived by his brother Albert (Joyce) Strickland and a multitude of nieces, nephews and all his hunting buddies. He was born in Thomasville, GA on August 22, 1949 to the late Ira Lewis and Laconie Billingsley Strickland. Lee graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School in 1969. He was born again through the blood of Jesus Christ on September 2, 1973. Lee was a faithful and loving husband to his High School sweetheart for forty-nine years. He was passionate about Western movies, good home cooked meals and deer hunting. In the early 70’s he began his lifelong career as a waterproofer. He was strong in body, spirit and commitment. He fulfilled every obligation he undertook and his word was his bond. Lee was always there to help his friends and his family. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, Jacksonville, FL on Friday December 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Hickox Baptist Church, family and friends –through prayers, food and visits.
