COUNIHAN, LOIS (COLINAN) 83, of West Forest Avenue died Sunday, April 29 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late William J. Counihan, Jr.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Major George H. and Eva (Fawley) Colinan, she had lived in Pawtucket for most of her life and had summered in Bonnet Shores for 50 years.

Mrs. Counihan was a 4th grade teacher at St. Dunstan's School, Providence before retiring.

She was a member of the first graduating class at Pawtucket West High School and a 1945 graduate of Pembroke College. She was an active member and past president of the Pembroke Club of Providence as well as the past chair of its seminars.

Mrs. Counihan was very involved at Lincoln School, Providence where she was the chair of its 1973 Friendly Fair.

She was an active member of the Pawtucket Junior Woman's Club and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pawtucket.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Livingston of Nahant, MA and Elizabeth C. Cirgenski of New York City, NY; two sons, William J. Counihan, III of Salem, MA and Robert M. Counihan of Tampa, FL; one brother, David Colinan of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George H. Colinan, Jr.
