ST. MARTINVILLE – A Mass of Catholic Burial will be conducted for
Rosemary Fournet Waters, age 91, at 1:00 pm on January 3, 2019 at St.
Martin de Tours Catholic Church 133 South Main Street Saint Martinville, Louisiana 70582 with Fr. Rusty P. Richard officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery 600 East Bridge Street Saint Martinville, Louisiana 70582.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Walters Funeral Home 2424 North University Road Lafayette, La 70507 on Thursday from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.

A native of St. Martinville and resident of Franklinton, Rosemary passed away on December 31, 2018 at her residence.

Rosemary was born on July 6, 1927 in St. Martinville to the late Alfred and Lezida Theriot Fournet. She had a great love for good cuisine and enjoyed sharing her cooking with family and friends. Rosemary managed restaurants her entire career. In 1965 she opened up The Park Lodge Restaurant and successfully ran it until her retirement. Rosemary also wrote and published her own cook book titled “Cajun Rose” which sold out upon its release.

Beyond cooking, Rosemary also enjoyed singing and going dancing. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Karl Schmidt and wife Patricia, Dr. Robert Schmidt and wife Debra, Yvonne Hulsey, and Rosalind Kenny; grandchildren, Karl Schmidt, Jr., Sheila Brothers, Kimberly Waguespack, Jennifer Vicknair, George “Butch” Roussel, Ashley Roussel, Brandt Tycer, Meghan Juba, Madeline Kenny, and Caroline Kenny; and great grandchildren, Kael Schmidt, Kennedy Schmidt, Hayden Waguespack, Christian Waguespack, Greyson Waguespack, Addison Waguespack, Noah Vicknair, Brea Vicknair, and Brody Vicknair.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Waters, Jr.; numerous brothers and sisters; and parents, Alfred and Lezida Theriot Fournet. Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
