LANCASTER – Robert M. "Bob" Alcorn, age 84, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born on June 25, 1934, the son of Harvie and Mattie (Swab) Alcorn. Bob graduated from Lancaster High School in 1952. He served his country in the National Guard stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington State. Bob was called to serve in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis as a SPF4 in the 32nd Infantry Division. Upon his honorable discharge in 1962, Bob returned to Lancaster. He was employed with John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works and later, the Dubuque Packing Company. During his employment, "Uncle Bob" continued to farm the Alcorn family farm in North Lancaster Township. He was a member of the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109 of Lancaster. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his brother, Ralph; sister, Carol Carter; a brother-in-law, Carl (Carol) Bender; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Harold (Ruth) Alcorn; a sister, Eva Bender; sister-in-law, Lois Alcorn; brother-in-law, Bob Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison Street, Lancaster, with Reverend Mark Weaver officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
