Victor Ugene Draelants, son of Elizabeth and Louis Draelants, was born March 2, 1869, and departed this life, September 14, 1944; being at the time of his death, 75 years, 6 months and 12 days old.

He was born in Moniteau County and lived there until nine years of age when he and his parents moved to Cedar County where he spent the rest of his life. He was one of eleven children. All preceded him in death but three.

He was married to Clara M. Ellermann on August 5th, 1888. To this union five children were born, four daughters and one son. Rosalee died when only five months old. Surviving are Della McNish, Topeka Kansas, Flossie Long, El Dorado Springs, Mo., Edna Keith, Osceola, Mo.; and L.V. of the home. Besides his wife and children he leaves 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Ollie Ellermann of near Fort Scott, Kansas, Effie Nance, Collins, Mo.; and Arthur Draelants, Clayton, Kansas; also many other relatives and friends.

He was converted early in life and was a member of the Caplinger Mills Baptist Church at the time of his death. He always enjoyed going to church until his health failed about five years ago.

He was a true and loving husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor to all who knew him.

Dearest father, thou hast left us,
And our loss we deeply feel;
But it's God that has bereft us;
He can all our sorrows heal.

Yet again, we hope to meet thee
When the day of life is fled;
When in heaven in joy to greet thee
Where no farewell tear is shed.

Funeral services were held at the Caplinger Baptist Church. Sunday, September 17 at 2:00, Rev. Tom Procter, officiating. Burial was in Stockton Cemetery under the direction of Church & Neal. Flower girls were: Fern Robertson, Dorothy Johnson, Lois Keith, Wanda Keith, Pallbearers were: Ernie Mays, Alva Mays; Cecil Robertson. Eugene McNish, Raymond Allen, Hershel Keith.

Victor Ugene Draelants, an old-time resident of Cedar County, Passed away Thursday night, Sept. 14, at his home near Caplinger Mills, his death being attributed to a heart ailment. Mr. Drealants was 75 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Cedar county at the age of 9 years and lived on the farm where he died 53 years.

He is survived by his wife and four children, namely, Mrs. Della McNish, Topeka, Kans.; Mrs. Flossie Long, El Dorado Springs; Mrs. Edna Keith, Osceola, Mo.; and L. V. Draelants of Caplinger Mills, Funeral services were conducted in the Baptist church at Caplinger Mills and the remains were taken to Stockton for burial. Xxx
