William was the son of John and Thankful Slade Weeks, both buried in this cemetery. John was a Revolutionary War soldier. William married Hannah Steward, daughter of Elias and Sarah Stewart who came to Clarendon about 1789. Elias Stewart was also a Revolutionary War soldier. Willliam and Hannah had at least three children: William Steward who married Mary Ann Hall and they are buried here; Aletta who married Christopher Pierce and Gershow Cheney - Aletta and Christopher are buried here; and Hannah who died about age 25 and is buried also in this cemetery. Their son, Newman, is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland.
