Merle was born in Blytheville to Thomas Bradford and Maudie Moser Olsen. She was a homemaker and a member of United Pentecostal Church in Republic, Missouri. Merle loved cooking, working crossword puzzles, embroidering and feeding the birds.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Lee Sharp, Sr.; her father; mother, Maudie, and step-father, Arthur Olsen; two sons, Freddie Sharp, Jr. and Steve Sharp; son-in-law, John Sturm; three brothers, James Bradford and his wife Lois, Bob Bradford and Calvin Olsen; one sister, Mary Hutson; and a very special lifelong friend, Dorothy Price.
Merle leaves her daughter, Carol Sturm of Springfield, Missouri; five sisters, Lilly McKinney (Jerry) of Jonesboro, Maxine Mansfield (Bill) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Helen Dorris of Bono, Shirley Wells (Roy) of Blytheville and Laverne Lovett of Prescott, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Valerie Roberts (Jimmie), Vickie Fricks (David), Steve Sharp (Morgan), Fred Sharp III, Regina Bridges, Jeremy Roberts (Loren) and Josh Roberts (Caity); six great-grandchildren, Anna Powell (James), Max Allen Fricks, Stevie Sharp, Hunter Sharp, Timothy Sharp and Samuel Dean Sharp; five great-great grandchildren, Oliver and Finley Powell, Michael Bridges, Jr., Lilly and Jasper Roberts and one on the way; and two special nephews, Tilman Sharp, Jr. and Jeff Hutson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9th at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
