Fred M Burns was a resident of Altoona Route Two and a native of this county, he was a carpenter, a painter, and a retired music teacher. He was the son of the late James Madison and Martha Jane Wright Burns, he was a member of Albertville First Nazarene Church.

Surviving are the Widow, Esther May Phillips Burns, a son, Gerald M of Center Point; three daughters, Mrs Vareda Jackson of Altoona, Route Two, Mrs Bernice Wilson of Little Rock, Ark, Mrs Freda Brown of Edwards, MS,; two brothers, Jessie of Altoona Route Two, Early W of Gardendale; two sisters, Mrs Porah Bynum of Altoona, Route Two, Miss Nona Burns of Grdendale; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The Fred Burns Family was a singing family. You could always look forward to singing around the piano when you were at their home. One of the greatest memories was spending the night and grandpa would always have the family to pray together before going to bed.

Grandpa had a old model T that always had flat tires. He would fill the tires with cotton seed. I don't know how much it helped but at least it got us home from church.
The years went by and they moved from the farm on the Warrior River near Susan Moore to Boaz, AL where they spent several years. Due to health they moved again near their daughter, Vareda so that she could help look after them.
There they spent the remainder of their years.
