The most consistent family story about Judd & Elizabeth is that they met while living/working on neighboring German farms in Kansas for 7 years each. U.S. census notes that both Judd & Elizabeth were both born in Illinois. Although it was never discussed, the possibility of the couple being Orphan Train riders has not been ruled out.
