Joanne Chetlain, 80, Bradenton, died January 25, 2007, at TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care in Bradenton.

She was born October 27, 1926, in Chicago and lived in the area since 1957, including four years in Tampa. She attended the University of Miami. She was a lifelong Baptist and was a member of West Bradenton Baptist Church almost since its inception in 1959. She also belonged to the Joy Sunday School class at the church.
She was an active member of the Bradenton Opera Guild, belonged to the Verdi Circle and was a Star member of the Sarasota Opera Association. She was a member of the Manatee County Library Board and the Manatee County Historical Society.

Survivors include her husband of more than 55 years, Kent; daughters Dr. Mary Lou Zoback of Stanford, CA, and Anna of Littleton, CO; sons Kent, III of Tampa FL and Paul of Bradenton, FL; sisters Virginia Solveson of Cupertino, CA and Frances DeVore of Broomfield, CO; and five grandchildren.

The service will be at 1:30 PM Saturday in the sanctuary of West Bradenton Baptist Church. The family will spread her ashes in the Gulf of Mexico after the service.

Griffith-Cline Funeral Home handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bradenton Opera Guild, P.O. Box 9271, Bradenton, FL 34206-9721 or Bradenton Hospice House, c/o TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
